Speaker 1 00:00:05 Welcome to the Clear Impact Podcast, brought to you by pg t I University. Thanks for joining us today. My name is Sherry Connor and I am your host. Good afternoon. We are here on the Clear and Impact Podcast and we are being hosted by the wonderful people at Western Window Systems this week. And right now we have with us Jeremy Flynn. So thanks Jeremy for squeezing some time in, even though we had a whole like is it two 15 or three 15? Speaker 2 00:00:36 I think I am here for like two hours. Yeah, Speaker 1 00:00:39 Let's go. Yeah, let's do it. No, we won't do a two hour. I'm not, I'm not Joe Rogan <laugh>. I'm not gonna be Joe Rogan anytime soon either. But you and I have had a few conversations. I've met you back in the spring, I think we were at a baseball game and then you came by our offices one day and then we were here in April. Yeah. As well. And so you give us a little tour, but I would love for you to introduce yourself to the listening audience. So tell us a little bit about your background, your career, and what you are responsible for these days. Speaker 2 00:01:06 Okay. Well my name is Jeremy Flynn and I'm the vice president of the Western Division for P G T I in sales. And I've been with the company in the Western Window Systems for two and a half years now. And before that, from 2012 to 2016, I was with pg t in Florida. So I got to know the company and know the culture and know the people in Florida and then was lucky enough to take a job with pg t when they purchased Western Window Systems back in 2018. And then I started with them in 2020. My career is started in the consumer package goods. I was with Pepsi for 17 years and really worked my way up through the company from starting out as stocking shelves in grocery stores and unloading trucks. I left the company in 2005 as the director of new business development for Southern California and really had a great time with that company, but decided it was time to do something different and I got into the building materials industry and started my career there in windows and doors and spent seven years with Mill Guard, mostly on the west coast in California, Arizona, and Nevada before I took that trip out to Florida and kind of changed my life to be with the pg t family. Speaker 1 00:02:19 Nice. And so where did you go to school? Speaker 2 00:02:21 Went to school in various junior colleges, working my way through college and through Pepsi and then went to San Diego State and uh, went to that school for a number of years and then actually finished my career at University of Phoenix after I was a father of two. And uh, I really had to burn the midnight oil of studying and preparing for the courses that I would have. University of Phoenix now is predominantly online to say how long ago I went. I think it was before the internet, so, uh, I actually had to go to a, a building twice a week at, in the evenings from six to 10. So finished my degree and business administration and uh, was on my way. Speaker 1 00:02:59 Nice. Yeah, I did that too. I went back to school when I was much older and it was tough. Speaker 2 00:03:04 It doesn't get easier if you could get the four years out of the way like my wife did, I would always recommend that. Yeah, I took the long wait. Yeah, Speaker 1 00:03:11 That's for sure. I definitely took it more seriously though when I knew that it mattered when it was not my parents deciding. It was me deciding. So anyway. That's interesting. I did not know that about you. That's great. Yeah. And so one of the things I love to ask leaders is about the advice that they've received over the years. So what is a valuable piece of advice that you received? Speaker 2 00:03:29 You know, I've had a lot of leaders and mentors over my career, but I always go back to how I was raised and I was raised with, uh, two great parents and my father was all about just hard work and really building relationships. He had a political career and so really your constituents really are your customers and talk about pressure where you're running for your job every four years. So he really gave that care and that customer service and that attention to people and their needs. And that's where I've always really taken that advice and really instilled that in myself and in my kids that hard work and building relationships is gonna be what's gonna get you to the next level. For Speaker 1 00:04:08 Sure. And then one last question. How do you see our team P G T I University as a benefit to the Western family? I Speaker 2 00:04:17 Mean, it's a great question. The education and the knowledge that not only internal customers and our employees need to have about what products that we're selling and what are the intricacies of our products that we sell and the applications that they fit and how to install the product is needed, but our customers need that and our customers that we don't even know of need that. And so with them going back and looking at the different courses, the videos that they're gonna be able to take on with the education system that PGT is setting up for Western, it's only gonna make our brand a lot stronger in the marketplace and people are gonna learn how to install our product as best as they can, which is going to only enhance the customer experience and make our relationship stronger out in the community. Speaker 1 00:05:05 Wonderful. Anything else you wanna Speaker 2 00:05:07 Add? That's great that you guys are here. I appreciate the time that you've taken with the folks at Western. We're really excited to see Rob, uh, move into his role and to get what to work with you find folks to really build this into a great education system for, uh, years to come. So thank you for the time that both you and Jim have put into the system and I'm looking forward to seeing how Rob takes it to a even a higher level. Speaker 1 00:05:28 Right. We're all chomping at the bit, so yeah, it's gonna be exciting for sure. Very cool. Awesome. Well thank you for your time, Jeremy. Yeah, it was great to have you. Speaker 2 00:05:35 Thanks for taking the time and thanks for having me. Awesome. Speaker 1 00:05:38 P G T I University is the customer education team for an entire family of brands.
